16 May Lake George Campsites Local Winery Guide
Attention winos! The Lake George area truly has something for everyone, including a handful of local wineries where you can sample delicious handcrafted wines.
We’ve compiled a list of the best wineries in the area. Whether you prefer red, white, or something in between, you will find a delicious vino to sip on at these local establishments.
Adirondack Winery
Adirondack Winery first opened its doors back in 2008 as one of the first micro-wineries in the country. Since then, they have grown and expanded tenfold and now have a wholesale business along with not one but two tasting rooms! They have a small tasting room in Lake George, and in 2021 they opened a massive winemaking facility and tasting room in Queensbury that now serves as the company headquarters. The new tasting room not only serves wine by the glass but also has specialty wine cocktails, charcuterie boards, wine ice cream, and more.
Their company value statement focuses on customer relationships, wine experience, wine-making passion, continuous improvement, and loving local. They have some very unique wines that you can taste, such as Berry Breeze; a rosé wine with a blend of strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry, or Serenity; a lavender-infused semi-sweet rosé. Be sure to try Orchard Blossom, a semi-sweet white wine reminiscent of a freshly cut green apple.
Saratoga Winery
Appropriately named, the Saratoga Winery is located on Route 29 in Saratoga (a short drive from the hustle and bustle of downtown ‘toga). Their rustic tasting room, previously an operational farm, offers indoor and outdoor seating, and all of the Adirondack charm.
They support local New York State grape growers and hand-select the finest grapes in the region. Their growing selection of wines selections includes Dry Riesling, Semi-Dry Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and several blends.
But you can get more than wine to drink at Saratoga Winery. They also offer local beer selections and have an extensive cocktail menu. And they have a full-scale restaurant with delicious offerings like cheese boards, wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. Don’t miss out on brunch (Saturdays and Sundays only) – be sure to get a mimosa flight if you go!
Ledge Rock Hill Vineyard
Ledge Rock Hill, aka the “winery in the woods,” is a family-run operation in Corinth, NY, with a passion and appreciation for fine wine-making. They hold themselves to high-quality standards, and the fruit for their wines is harvested from their own vineyard.
They offer wine tastings guided by a knowledgeable associate and fully customizable to your individual preferences. You get five wine samples per person, and you get to take home a souvenir wine glass. They also have food pairings available with gourmet cheeses, meats, and chocolates.
Altamont Vineyard
Altamont Vineyard & Winery was established in 2006. They have a variety of wines available, including Sirius; a dry, medium-bodied white wine, 2018 Edelweiss; semi-sweet white wine with fruity and floral aromas; and 2015 Passione; a full-bodied red blend with berry notes and a spicy oak finish.

Victory View Vineyard
Victory View is a family-owned farm winery in Schaghticoke, NY. They specialize in growing cold-climate grapes for their farm-bottled wines (they ONLY use their own grapes in their wine). They have several styles of red and white wines.
They take their grape growing very seriously at Victory View and use management best practices established by Cornell University’s grape program. They work in cooperation with Cornell Cooperative Extension to ensure sustainable grape-growing methods.
Visit their tasting room between April and December to sample their delicious offerings. It will be worth the wait!
Galway Rock Winery
Galway Rock Winery in Ballston Lake offers low alcohol, low sugar, unfiltered wines. All of their wines are gluten-free, vegan, and clean. That means you can enjoy your wine without worrying about paying the price the following day.
They offer wine tastings every day of the week from 1 – 6 PM, and on the first Saturday of each month, they hold a special Meet the Winemaker Tour. This intimate tour (max of 10 people) of the winery allows you to converse with one of their winemakers and is a fantastic way to experience Galway Rock Winery.
