28 Apr Find Ways to Get Out on the Water & Stay Cool on Your Lake George Camping Trip
Lake George Campsites is one of the best Lake George campgrounds because of our close proximity to a multitude of ways to get out on the water. From lazy river tubing to whitewater rafting to boat rentals, check out where you can splish, splash, and stay cool close to our top Upstate New York campground.
See Where to Rent Boats, Paddleboards & Other Watercraft
As we’re closest to the southern end of Lake George and the Village, that’s where we’ll focus our boat and watercraft rental recommendations. Here are just a few suggestions:
Hall’s Boat: Hall’s Boat rents out a 22-foot pontoon boat that can seat up to 10 and a 23-foot pontoon boat that accommodates up to 12.
Kayak Lake George: Rent canoes or kayaks from Kayak Lake George. They have single kayaks, double kayaks, standup paddleboards, and paddleboats as well.
Lake George Boat Rentals: Lake George Boat Rentals is situated in the heart of the Village and rents out pontoon boats, with over 30 boats to choose from.
Lake George Waterfront Cruises: Lake George Waterfront Cruises (formerly Lake George Shoreline Cruises) has brand-new pontoon boats available for rent.
For jet ski rentals, you may need to go a bit farther up the lake to Chic’s Marina in Bolton Landing or Thunderbird Marina in Diamond Point. There’s also River Ridin’ in Lake Luzerne for jet skiing or other watersports on the Hudson River.
Speaking of other nearby waterbodies, if you have your own canoe or kayak you’re bringing camping, don’t discount Glen Lake, which is smaller than Lake George and also close by. The Glen Lake Canoe/Kayak Launch Site is just under five minutes from Lake George Campsites.
Take a Guided Boat Ride or Cruise
Boat around on the lake without the responsibility of operating machinery. Sit back and relax with your family or group of friends on a guided boat tour! Many companies can customize to what you’re looking to get out of the trip, whether that’s historical facts about the lake along the way or maybe tours that incorporate swimming, tubing, or water skiing.
Check out Lake George Boat Charters, Adventure Boat Tours & Watersports, and Daleys Adventure Boat Tours (formerly Lake George Island Boat Tours) to start. There’s also Tiki Tours!
Of course, we can’t mention on-the-water fun on Lake George without mentioning the Lake George Steamboat Company and Lake George Waterfront Cruises. Both offer sightseeing cruises, dinner cruises, and other themed tours throughout the season.
Discover Pools, Water Slides & Beaches
Camping with us means camping near Six Flags Great Escape, just down the road from Lake George Campsites. Their wave pool and Hurricane Harbor water park rides include slides, tunnels, splash areas, and more. It’s an exciting place for all ages to immerse themselves in the cool waters of summer. They even have an Adventure River for tubing.
Million Dollar Beach is the prime beach in the Village, and it’s only 10 minutes from our campground! Dog Beach is also right there – have we mentioned we’re one of the best pet-friendly camping spots in Lake George? If you have little ones on your camping trip, try Usher Park Beach, which also has a playground and a picnic area.
