2023 Camping Season Recap

The 2023 camping season was one of the best that we’ve had at Lake George Campsites in a long time! We had more than 900 guests camp with us at our RV/tent sites and cozy cottages from May through October, including around 50 guests who rented a seasonal site and spent the whole camping season at LGC.  We loved seeing so many enjoy classic Lake George family camping. As we reflect on a wonderful 2023 season, we want to highlight some of the fun we had and look ahead to 2024…which will be here before we know it!

Under New Management

We welcomed Don & Kim Roberts as our new campground managers this season. I think anyone who stayed with us in 2023 will agree that we made the right decision to bring these two on board! They are a huge part of why the season was as successful as it was, and all of the activities highlighted below would not have been possible without their creativity and dedication.

A little bit about Don & Kim:

In 2017, after many years of wishing their camping trips would never end, Don and Kim decided to make their dream come true. They sold their house and most of their belongings, hooked up their fifth wheel, and headed off with their four kids & two cats in tow! They’ve since traveled to 28 states up & down the East Coast & into the Midwest.

Their career path has afforded them the opportunity to lead campgrounds varying in size from 100 – 400 sites with diverse amenities, ranging from food service to an event center and a water park. These opportunities have enabled them to acquire invaluable campground management experience.

A Word from Don & Kim

“We absolutely enjoyed our first season at Lake George Campsites!  Getting to know all of our guests & helping them make wonderful memories was a great experience for us. We enjoyed watching the families dance along with the DJs, participate in games, and create fun new crafts together. Food truck Saturdays, with so many varieties of yummy food, was one of our favorite additions. We had an excellent team, and in our opinion, this season was a smashing success. We look forward to the opportunity to continue to make Lake George Campsites a fun and enjoyable camping experience for all and want to thank you all for sharing your time with us.  We hope to see many of your smiling faces again in 2024!”

Themed Weekends

This season, we started doing themed activity weekends for our guests, focusing on kid-friendly things to do onsite. We weren’t sure how this would be received, but the reaction was overwhelmingly positive! Activities included crafts, games, movie nights, DJ dance parties, karaoke, trivia, scavenger hunts, and more.

Some of our favorites included Science & Space Weekend, Groovy Weekend, Heroes Weekend, Christmas in July Weekend, Birthday Weekend, Luau Weekend, and Mystery Weekend.

Food Truck Saturday

We also started Food Truck Saturday this season, which quickly became very popular amongst our campers. This year’s food truck lineup included ADK Food Oasis, Big Bear Co., The Extra Mile, Big D’s Meats BBQ, Sweet Life Italian Ice, Red Wagon, Fort Ann’s Big Kahuna, Robb’s Topp Dogg, and The Clever Cleaver. The best part was that we had the trucks parked at the campground entrance so members of the public could stop by and grab food as well. We had everything from wood-fired pizza to BBQ, hot dogs, sandwiches, and more! This is a tradition we absolutely plan to continue next season.

Open House Events

We tried something completely new this year and held our first open house events to invite members of the public to come and check out our campground. We had our Spring Open House on May 20, 2023, and Fall Open House on September 30, 2023. We offered tours of our campsites, cottages, and amenities and a discount if attendees booked their next vacation onsite. We had crafts and games for the kiddos and refreshments for all. And everyone loved the raffle prizes that were generously donated by local businesses!

We Strive for Five

This past season, we received more 5-star reviews than we have ever before. Here’s a sampling of what our guests are saying about us:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “We did our first seasonal here this year. We loved the location and booked for next year as well.  The managers were very helpful, and the staff worked very hard to make it fun.  The campground is kept very clean.”

– Shannon Amato

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Very satisfied for our quick weekend camping trip! They have made a few new upgrades in the past few years! All the employees we encountered were very friendly! Will stay again!”

– Paula Lohr

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Overall an amazing place to stay! Super friendly staff that were always accommodating. We stayed in a cabin, and it was GORGEOUS! That night, my husband went to the store for firewood, and the staff brought us a fire pit along with dropping off the wood he purchased so that he didn’t have to carry it back on the walk. Everything was clean: the park, the pool, the bathrooms, and especially the rented cabin. We will, without a doubt, be staying here again!”

– Courtney Swinyer

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “What a GREAT campground! If I could give more than five stars, I would.  The whole experience was AWESOME.  The cabin we stayed in was very clean and fit our needs perfectly. The staff were absolutely phenomenal. The kids played on the playground and basketball court they have. We also enjoyed time at the pool.  My family and I loved it so much we are going back for Halloween weekend in October, and I’m bringing more of my family with me.  This truly is a GREAT place to camp.”

– Marc Pardi

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “This is a lovely campground! The staff are extremely polite and helpful. The park is well maintained, the water in the pool is crystal clear, and a joy to swim in. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to camp.”

– Robert Carso
