8 Lake George Restaurants to Try When Camping in Lake George, NY

From a restaurant that offers tableside s’mores to a pizza place that rivals what you’d find in New York City to an Adirondack-style pub, check out restaurants below that campers in Lake George will appreciate. Whether you’re camping with kids, a group of friends, or it’s just you and your favorite person, there’s a restaurant for you in Lake George! And, they’re all under 10 minutes from us here at Lake George Campsites.

1) The Log Jam Restaurant

Dining at the Log Jam Restaurant is a classic Lake George experience. The building resembles a log cabin but is surprisingly large when you step inside, with more than one room for dining, several stone fireplaces, and one of the best salad bars in the region.

Although elegant, this Lake George restaurant is family-friendly, so feel free to bring the little ones. The Log Jam Restaurant is located in the Lake George Outlets, so it’s a great one to try if you’re fitting a shopping excursion into your camping trip.

2) The Lake George Beach Club

For lakeside views, live music, and maybe a summery cocktail, try the Lake George Beach Club, located in the center of the Village. Their outdoor patio is the place to be come summer, with live music as early as 1pm in the summer, typically with several performances throughout the day. If you’re looking for waterfront dining on Lake George, this is undoubtedly one of the best options.

3) Capri Pizzeria & Restaurant

We must include at least one pizza place on our must-try restaurants for campers list because we have some of the best in the Lake George region. You’d swear you were in Brooklyn! Capri Pizzeria & Restaurant, or simply “Capri Pizza,” is known for its Big Apple-style pizza.

Capri Pizza offers indoor dining at its hole-in-the-wall spot in the Village that is close to Shepard Park. Dine in, or take a pie or a few slices to go and eat in the park. Whatever you do, make sure to order the garlic knots as well.

4) Moose Tooth Grill

You can’t have a Lake George family camping trip without a stop at the kid-friendly Moose Tooth Grill, where they have their own tableside s’mores! They also offer burgers, quesadillas, salads, bottomless fries and onion rings, 12 New York State craft beers, a full bar, a kid’s menu, and homemade root beer.

Located on Canada Street, Moose Tooth Grill is a Lake George staple. Your kids will love seeing the platter with a small burner brought right to your table so you can make your own s’mores.

5) Adirondack Pub & Brewery

Also on Canada Street, Adirondack Pub & Brewery provides two levels of rustic: Adirondack-style dining and outdoor seating. Beer is brewed on-site, and the burgers and American-style comfort food hits the spot on any summer evening. Be sure to try the eggplant fries!

In addition to being a fantastic place to grab grub while you’re in town on a camping trip, they’re also known for hosting some of Lake George’s most popular events, perhaps most notably their Oktoberfest in the fall. (Note: Oktoberfest falls on October 14 this year, and Lake George Campsites is open through October 15, 2023.)

6) George’s Restaurant

If you’re not cooking up a steak over the campfire or in your cozy rental cottage but are hoping for some homestyle meat and potatoes on your Lake George trip, make plans to dine at George’s Restaurant. George’s Restaurant is widely considered the best steakhouse in Lake George, with succulent prime rib, steaks, and seafood on the menu.

George’s is located across the street from Usher Park Beach, which is the most kid-friendly beach on Lake George. There’s a playground on-site and a picnic area. George’s has a kid’s menu with burgers, fries, mac and cheese, spaghetti, and all those wholesome favorites, so this is a great stop for families camping in Lake George.

7) Bistro LeRoux

Not camping with the kids or able to get away for a date night? Check out Bistro LeRoux, located in Lake George but not in the Village. It’s an off-the-beaten-path treasure that’s definitely worth a visit if you’re looking to fit in one fine dining experience on your trip. (Go ahead and switch up your mealtime from hot dogs over the fire to more of an upscale dinner for one night!)

As the name suggests, Bistro LeRoux specializes in French cuisine. Their menu can change with the season, but some favorites that patrons rave about include the French onion soup, scallops, tuna roll, short ribs, surf and turf, and bread pudding.

8) 163 Taproom

This highly rated Canada Street gem provides an elevated bar experience with a robust selection of beers, including 16 tap lines, and a diverse selection of meals from Asian duck tacos to a twin cheese dog to a variety of sandwiches and paninis. There’s something for everyone at 163 Taproom.

Their appetizer selection is massive, so this is a great place to buy a few small plates to share with friends. And guess what? They have s’mores on the dessert menu.

Bonus: We can’t mention these great places for Lake George brews without giving a shout-out to our neighbor, Northway Brewing. Northway Brewing is located within walking distance of Lake George Campsites, and they’re dog-friendly, just like us! Walk your furry friend over for a pint during your Lake George camping trip.
