Glamping at Lake George Campsites

When you hear the word glamping you probably think of a large, luxe, air-conditioned tent in the middle of the forest. But the truth is, glamping comes in many different forms. Glamping can be a yurt on a mountaintop in Wyoming or a forest canopy in a treehouse in France. Glamping can also be a cozy, open-concept cottage nestled on a large campground near the Adirondack Mountains (hi- that’s us!). The basic idea behind glamping is getting to immerse yourself in nature and explore different parts of the world without having to give up the creature comforts that we enjoy so much. We at Lake George Campsites have embraced the fact that the way people travel has changed and we provide accommodation options for every type of camper.

While we always have (and always will) offer traditional camping with our 250 RV and tent sites, we recently added 19 cozy cottages to our campground to accommodate those travelers who want the campground experience, but still want to sleep in a real bed…and maybe catch that football game on TV. When it comes to campgrounds with cabins in Upstate NY it doesn’t get better than our cozy cottages which include: sleeping quarters for up to seven people, a kitchenette or full kitchen, and modern amenities like heat and air conditioning, comfy mattresses, gas fireplaces, and stand-up showers. There are five different styles of cottages: Algonquin, Whiteface, Cascade, Marcy, and Iroquois and we have detailed each of them for you below.

Algonquin Cottages

Our Algonquin cottages (Cottages 3, 4, 5, 7, 19) are 450 square feet and can accommodate up to 7 guests. Sleeping accommodations include 1 queen-sized bed in the primary bedroom, a bunk bed (separate room), and a loft area with 1 full and 1 twin bed. The loft area is accessible by a staircase and has 3.5-foot ceilings. Algonquin cottages have a full kitchen with an oven/stove, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, and come equipped with pots/pans, dishes, and utensils for you to use during your stay. This cottage model has a dining table and a living area with a small couch and gas fireplace (no firewood needed!). The Algonquin model offers a half bath and a full bathroom off the primary bedroom with a large stand-up shower. Algonquin cottages have a screened-in porch with a table and chairs so you can enjoy your morning cup of coffee or late-night glass of wine outside without having to deal with the elements…and the bugs.  This model has not one, but two flat-screen televisions. One television is in the primary bedroom and one is in the living room, so parents and kids don’t have to argue over what movie to watch. The Algonquin model is great for a larger family with a couple of kiddos looking to explore all that the Lake George area has to offer.

Iroquois Cottages

Our Iroquois cottages (Cottages 1, 2, 6, 8) are very similar in style to the Algonquin model. Iroquois cottages are 450 square feet and can accommodate up to 7 guests. Sleeping accommodations include 1 queen-sized bed in the primary bedroom, a bunk bed (separate room), and a loft area with 1 full and 1 twin bed. The loft area is accessible by a staircase and has 3.5-foot ceilings. Iroquois cottages have a full kitchen with an oven/stove, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, and come equipped with pots/pans, dishes, and utensils for you to use during your stay. This cottage model has a dining table and a living area with a small couch and gas fireplace (no firewood needed!). The Iroquois model offers a half bath and a full bathroom off the primary bedroom with a beautiful, large stand-up shower. Iroquois cottages have a screened-in porch with a table and chairs so you can enjoy your morning cup of coffee or late-night glass of wine outside without having to deal with the elements…and the bugs.  This model has not one, but two flat-screen televisions. Whiteface cottages do have 2 small flat-screen televisions – one above the dining table and one in the primary bedroom. This model would be great for a small family or a group of friends looking to explore all that the Lake George area has to offer.

Access to Amenities

The best Lake George camping or glamping includes access to campground amenities. Our Lake George Campsite cottage guests have access to all of the campground amenities including the pool, playground, recreation room, camp store, laundry room, and more! Cottages 1 and 18 are pet friendly so if you are one of those people that doesn’t like to leave the pooch at home when you travel we’ve got you covered. The Z-field, where the cottages are located, has strategically placed fire pits (we sell firewood at the camp store) and picnic tables for guests to share.
