Lake George Campsites Local Brewery Guide

Attention beer lovers! Is there really anything better than a freshly poured, ice-cold beer after a long day hiking in the Adirondacks or swimming in Lake George? The Lake George region is chock full of breweries, all just a short drive from Lake George Campsites.

We’ve compiled a list of our favorite breweries in the area. Whether you prefer a dark, rich stout, a light, crisp lager, or a fruity sour beer, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

Northway Brewing Co.

Northway Brewing Co. is a craft brewery located in Queensbury, NY. Their facility features an expansive outdoor seating area and a 3,000 SF taproom with plenty of space to spread out. Some of their beers include Paralysis, a traditional black lager with local favorite Death Wish Coffee, and Double Sunrise IPA, a hazy, juicy beer with notes of tropical fruits.

They often have live music, themed parties, and trivia nights. Follow them on Instagram to stay in the know about upcoming brewery events! They also have a food truck with great BBQ from local establishment Streaking Moose BBQ so you can indulge in some delicious brisket or chicken wings while you enjoy your beers.

Bonus: You can walk there from your campsite at Lake George Campsites! We are located right next to Northway Brewing Co., and they are definitely one of our campers’ favorite spots.

Common Roots Brewing Company

Common Roots Brewing Company is a craft brewery in Glens Falls. They recently built a new facility which opened in June 2020 after a devastating fire at their previous site. The new space boasts a full-service restaurant (be sure to try the pizza), a beautiful and dog-friendly outdoor Biergarten complete with Adirondack chairs and fire pits, and a private event space.

They offer a rotating selection of beers on tap, and you can grab a 6-pack of your favorite beer to-go on your way out! Their core beers include Good Fortune IPA, Common Roots Lager, and Citra Session IPA. They also have seasonal selections, hard seltzers, and a small selection of cider and wine for non-beer drinkers.

Adirondack Pub & Brewery

Adirondack Pub & Brewery, located in the heart of Lake George Village, is a comfortable brewpub that offers craft beers and comfort food in a lodge-style atmosphere. Owner John Carr opened the establishment after his friends and family begged him to after years of brewing delicious beers out of his home. Carr ensures the use of locally sourced ingredients in all of their beers.

Some of their year-round crowd-pleasers include Bear Nake Ale, a medium-bodied amber ale with a slightly fruity finish; Bobcat Pilsner, a light-bodied lager with a subtle bitterness; and Lake George’s IPA, a beer that changes with the four seasons due to the hop profiles.

Bolton Landing Brewing Company

Founded in 2017, Bolton Landing Brewing Company is a family-owned microbrewery in Bolton Landing, NY. They have a spacious outdoor patio to enjoy in the summer (complete with shuffleboard and lawn games) and an indoor taproom space.

They offer small bites (try the parmesan truffle fries and thank us later) and a full bar offering wine and spirits. They even have a rotating specialty cocktail menu! And after you are done enjoying your beers and grub, you can walk downtown and explore the shops in downtown Bolton Landing or take a stroll down to the lake.

Davidson Brothers Brewing Company

Davidson Brothers Brewpub is a family-friendly hometown restaurant in downtown Glens Falls. A local favorite since they opened in 1996, they offer delicious, no-frills food and beverage in a rustic and relaxed atmosphere.

They even have their own “dog menu,” as your four-legged friends are welcome in their outdoor seating area. Treat them to a doghouse burger, a dotson dog, or the tail-wagger (grilled chicken breast).

Mean Max Brew Works

Another Glens Falls favorite, Mean Max Brew Works, is a locally owned and operated brewery dedicated to crafting fine lagers and ales. Their recipes are home-tested, and they handcraft their beers in small 3-barrel batches to ensure maximum freshness and deliciousness. They also have live music on the weekends, so you can enjoy the music of local artists as you sip on your Rainbow Falls NEIPA or your More Funner NEIPA.

Paradox Brewery

If you feel like going for a bit of drive, be sure to check out Paradox Brewery. Located in North Hudson, NY (about a 45-minute drive from Lake George Campsites), Paradox Brewery is a Veteran-owned, independent craft brewery loved by locals and tourists alike. Their secret is that they brew their beer using water found in the granite 600 feet below the Adirondack Park.

Their 25,000 SF brewery includes a large taproom complete with cozy fireplaces, making it a hotspot for snowmobilers in the winter months. They also have a patio and a large outdoor space to draw in the crowd during the spring and summer.

Their food offerings include everything from pretzels with beer cheese to pizza, fries, sandwiches, soups, and salads. There’s something for everyone!

The Adirondack Craft Beverage Trail

While not a brewery, we felt it essential to give a shoutout to the Adirondack Craft Beverage Trail, a program the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce created in 2014 to promote craft beverage makers in the area.

You can sign up for their digital passport, which features 16 craft beverage producers in Essex, Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties. Be sure to track your progress, as you will be rewarded with prizes if you do! Ten check-ins get you a tote bag, and visiting all locations on the trail gets you entered into a grand prize raffle. Why wouldn’t you want to be rewarded for drinking beer?

Now that you know all the things to do in Lake George, including a self-guided brewery tour,  it’s time to book your trip to the area! Lake George Campsites has everything you need for a fun-filled getaway. What are you waiting for? We are open for the season and ready to host you!
