12 Feb Your Itinerary for a Romantic Summer Getaway in Lake George
It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and that means it’s time to start thinking about how to spoil your significant other this year. Why not treat them to a romantic summer getaway in picturesque Lake George, NY? We’ve done the work for you and planned your entire itinerary! It all starts with booking a cottage at our rustic Lake George campground. Check out our recommendations for an ideal R&R retreat in the Adirondack Mountains for you and your partner.
1. Book a cozy cottage at Lake George Campsites.
Our camping cabins, or cozy cottages as we like to call them, include sleeping quarters for up to six people, both heat and air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchenette or kitchen, seating areas, and modern bathrooms. There are five distinct cottage styles: Algonquin, Whiteface, Cascade, Marcy, and Iroquois. Check out the floor plans to help you decide which style will suit you best. We suggest the Marcy for a romantic getaway, as it has a king-sized bed, cozy kitchenette, and gas fireplace for added ambiance. Plus, it has a large front porch with a table and chairs, so you can sit outside and enjoy your morning coffee or a late-night cocktail.
Our amenities are just part of the reason why we are considered one of the best Lake George campgrounds and include a swimming pool, arcade/recreation room, outdoor gaming area, camp store, and laundry facility.
Check out our 2024 rates and book your cottage now. Our seasonal campground in the Adirondacks is open from May 1, 2024, through October 14, 2024.
Plus, if you book between February 12 and February 16, you will save 14% with our Valentine’s Day Special! No promo code needed – the discounted rate will be reflected at checkout. We’re even including holiday weekends in this promotion, so be sure to take advantage.
2. Take a romantic railbike ride along the Hudson River.
Revolution Rail Co. offers multiple scenic railbike tours within 30 minutes of Lake George. You will see water, mountains, flora, fauna, and native species on your rail biking adventure. Rides range from 6 to 14 miles, and you are required to pedal, so it’s a great way to get in some physical activity when on vacation. Plus, you and your bae will have your own private double rail bike, so you can enjoy some privacy as you take in the beautiful surroundings.
3. Sample delicious local wine at Adirondack Winery’s tasting room.
What is more romantic than sampling award-winning wines and nibbling on local cheeses with your partner in crime? Locals and tourists alike love stopping by Adirondack Winery for a tasting, and you will love it, too. Their original tasting room is right in the heart of Lake George Village on Canada Street, but they also have a newer (opened in 2021) massive winemaking facility and tasting room just a few miles down the road in Queensbury, NY. The Queensbury tasting room not only serves wine by the glass but also has specialty wine cocktails, charcuterie boards, wine ice cream, and more.
Adirondack Winery places its focus on customer relationships, wine experience, wine-making passion, continuous improvement, and loving all things local. While you are there, you can sample some truly unique wines, such as Berry Breeze, a rosé wine with a blend of strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry, or Serenity, a lavender-infused semi-sweet rosé. And don’t forget to try Orchard Blossom, a semi-sweet white wine reminiscent of a freshly cut green apple. Take home a bottle or two of your favorite wine so you can reminisce about your wonderful vacation after you return home.
4. Relax and unwind with a couples massage at Body Relief Day Spa.
After biking and wine, you will want to spend some time relaxing and decompressing. What better place to do that than a day spa? Body Relief Day Spa in Queensbury offers a sixty-minute couples massage where you will both be in the same treatment room having your knots and tension worked on by their staff of professional masseuses. If you want to stay around after the massage for some more relaxation time, you can make use of the spa’s infrared sauna, eucalyptus steam room, and showers.
5. Indulge in a romantic fine dining experience at Bistro LeRoux.
At this point in the day, you will likely be famished and ready to gorge yourselves at one of the many wonderful restaurants in the area. We recommend giving Bistro LeRoux a try, which offers a cozy and intimate dining experience focused on utilizing locally sourced ingredients. The menu is French-inspired, with offerings like eggplant parmesan risotto, braised short ribs, and truffled pomme frites, although the dishes change seasonally. They also have an extensive wine list, making it the perfect spot for a date night.
6. Take a private cruise along the lake with Love is on Lake George Cruises.
We can’t think of a better way to experience Lake George than on a sunset private boat tour, and Love is on Lake George Cruises offers just that. Local lake lovers Ron & Kathy will pick you up at a location convenient for you and take you on a 1.5-hour private cruise along The Queen of American Lakes in one of their boats. You can bring your own beverages and refreshments or have a catered experience.
7. Grab a blanket and catch a double feature at the Glen Drive-In Theater.
End the night by catching a flick at one of the last drive-ins in the US at the Glen Drive-In Theater in Queensbury. They are open daily at 5:30 PM from May through Labor Day. Shows start at dusk. Plus, every night is a double feature!
Surprise your favorite person with a romantic camping trip at one of our cozy cottages in Lake George, and we’re sure you’ll have an extraordinary time together. You may need to wait for your getaway until we open in May, but you don’t have to wait to secure your camping cabin.
